    Default KK's workshop

    G'day all,

Hopefully this is the right sub-forum to post this as technically it's not a shed. My house is built on a small lot and there's not even enough space for a garden shed let alone workshop shed. All I have is basically a 2 car garage with a 3.3m x 1m alcove but the upside is I only need car space for one vehicle.

Here's where I'm up to so far........

This is the left wall with the alcove and it houses the SCMS station/bench, the Jet DE, a metal tool cupboard, and a small amount of timber storage.

Here's the SCMS station/bench. I positioned the SCMS on this wall as it allows me to stick long pieces of timber out of the garage door. Mounted on the left side of the overhead cupboard is a 14W gooseneck LED lamp from H&F and on the underside are 2 rows of LED strip lighting. On top of the overhead cupboard is where I store my 3m track for my plunge saw. You can see it poking out in the photo below. I've still got to make the drawers to go under the SCMS and the tool wall needs filling up.....

    Bench return.jpg

I extended the bench around the corner of the alcove. Under the return bench is a mobile trolley bench from Bunnings. I place the HNT Gordon face vice right on the corner as it allows the greatest flexibility. And I used a short extendable Incra Flip Fence for the left side of the SCMS which allows enough space to secure a bench hook or shooting board with the HNT vice. Currently I have my table saw in front of the SCMS but that will eventually go under a bench on the back wall. In it's place will be my handtool workbench, which I hope to start building during the Chrissie break. I also got to sort out a overhead duct system for my DE but that'll probably have to wait for when I upgrade it to a more powerful unit. ATM, the the 2HP Jet probably wouldn't be able to cope with the extra pipes.

    drill charging station 2.jpg

Here's a close up of the drill charging station that I've just completed. The reason for the weird shape is because it has to clear the overhead duct for the SCMS. I've encased the duct with MDF which is what the wooden magnetic knife block is mounted to. The knife block is a great way to keep all the small driver bits and accessories. For the longer driver bits, I made a holder. I'm not quite happy with the to section of the charging station. There seems to be a lot of empty space and I don't think I've maximised the available space. I think I should have gone for 3 shelves instead of two.

Anyhoo, that's it for now. I'll have to show you the other 2 walls some other time. Comments, criticism, advice, etc are all welcome.

    Cheers,
    Mike.
