I used 3 ply to line my shed and where necessary added 18mm plywood over the top of it to fasten to. Doing this has the advantage of being able to move the tool boards if needed without removing the wall lining. In a previous iteration of my tool boards I used 18mm pine board (painted) with no issues at all. I used plywood this time and both work as well as each other.

    1. The vibration from machinery on wheels can walk around your shop.
You need some kinds of blocks, weights or skid pads under the wheels.
My Ryobi table saw is really cheap and really bad for that.

I have 65 lbs of concrete blocks under my portable dishwasher upstairs in the kitchen.
Hooked up at the sink and running, it does not move a mm.

    2. Don't waste light. Focus your light on the tasks at hand.
Using the drill press, I do not have any use for brightly lit storage shelves.
I have a couple of 45 watt LED lights = outdoor noon sunlight.
I have a single 100w light in the ceiling for general safety lighting, that's it.
All the rest of the lights are swing arm lamps with LED.
