IN the past, I always had my bench in the centre of the workshop, however now with the machines there is simple no space. So I am stuck against the back wall.

    WARNING TOOL POORNOOGRAAPHY

FELDER services is worth every penny. The came, they installed, setup me up and ran me through all the machine details and use and will be back in a few weeks to say "Hi" and to see if I am having any problems. They also threw in ceramic guides on the bandsaw for free, plus the $2000 was taken off the sticker price on the machines since I bought a package. I now wait 2 more months for the sliding tablesaw which is being built for me at the moment in Austria. A note even the smallest thing says Made in Austria or Made in Germany, I know the cast iron is made is Switzerland.

Tonight the electrician comes to connect the power.

As a wise man said pay once and then you only cry once.

    Oh very nice

Its pretty much what I'm looking at, A3-31 and N4400 except the AF16 instead of the AF12

What table did you go for K3 or B3?

    B3 with:

    spindle moulder,
    dado blade
saw fence professional design with steel round bar guide router spindle with collet
    1250 mm table.

No outrigger and no scoring blade - as I can always add them at a later point.

I got the AF12 on special as it was a floor model saved a few $100 that way.

I have not installed the lighting yet so the workshop is still dark and the camera takes a long time to take the shot in the dark resulting in a blurry photo.

You'll love the A3 31- it's a beast. Did you get the silent head or the straight cutters?

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the ceramic guides on the N4400. I've had problems with my hammer and think new guides may be the fix.

I had to go with the silent head everybody raves about them.

The N4400 was interesting, the way the Felder guy suggested it be set up against almost all advice that I have read or heard on bandsaws. However, if that is what the manufacturer says then that is what I will do.

Felder recommends that the teeth sit on the very front edge of the wheel hanging off in space. They say that if the teeth sit on the rubber then the set will be pushed out of the blade and the blade will not track correctly over time.

The gullets are bisected by the edge of the rubber and the back of the blade sits on the rubber.

Interestingly the rubber does not have a crown.

He showed me how you adjust the tilt of the top wheel so that the teeth come to rest/sit in the exact right position.

Setting up the ceramic guides could not be simpler.

I can take some photos if you like.

The guides were a sweet bonus, I am sure I did not pay for them.

That's how the Bandsaw mill I run operates.

Bob the Felder guy was VERY adamant that it is the correct way and as I said I will do as I am told.

However many instructions say much contradictory advice.

It was kind of nice to have someone say this is the right way end of the discussion, but that is what I expect from Germans.

You did the right thing getting the silent head. So much quieter and leaves a brilliant finish. I couldn't be happier with mine.

I'll try the bandsaw setup they suggested to you. I've tried all sorts of setups but not with the teeth overhanging.

Anyway, good luck with your new set up.

groeneaj did you not have a Felder technician who set you up and instructed you how to configure and use the machine?

I live only 15 minutes from Felder HQ, maybe that has been in my favour.

    I will take some photos.
