Jack, I'm intrigued by your bench grinder; how have you mounted what appears to be a wire wheel and a buffing wheel outboard of the grinding wheels?

I presume you've attached spindle extensions in place of the normal nuts that secure the wheels and then cut holes in the side guards for the spindles to protrude through. Are these commercially available extensions, or did you make them up yourself?

What's the overall balance and harmonics like with all that lot?
    .
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

    Regards, Woodwould.

    That is correct.

The tapered spindle extensions are commercially available but I bought them years ago and can't remember where.

They are designed to fit on the grinder with the wheels and guards off so require modification.

You have to cut holes in the guards and cut the end off the spindle the same thickness as the wheel (I just did this on a cut off saw).
The end needs to be cut off otherwise the they don't go on far enough to secure the wheels.

It's balanced well and works as it did before.

Spindle extensions are available in both tapered and straight so you can add buffs or other wheels/ wire brushes/ etc. I know Josco does the tapered spindles, but I'm not sure who the manufacturer of the straight spindles is, could be Josco but I can't find them on their web site.

You will notice the neat and orderly fashion things are kept

This is the path I need to walk to my shed (might have to move some more tools out

I should tell you there is a second reason I moved my lathe. I have a 22 mth old son so by moving my lathe out I could turn while he played in the yard
