It was good to meet some familiar and some new fellow woodies.

I guess that you'll be posting the usual "evidence"

    Cheers!

By early afternoon all was in readines. The work was done and I sat down to have a quiet drink and relax until the guests came.

Whilst having this drink the heavens opened up and the forecast thunderstorm started.

Although most of our bbq area is properly roofed, because of the need of maintenance and opening windows there is a sleeper walkway and small openings in front of the windows. Somehow with the amount of rain it found a way in from the walkway and it was dripping all over the seating area.

In despair we resolved not to cancel, but cook outside and somehow fit everyone inside for the gala event of meeting Doug and Jules.

Fortunately the rains stopped about 4.30 pm and after half an hour the area was cleaned up and dried out just in time for Jules and Steve (Auld Bassoon), who kindly picked her up from Moorabbin and who were quickly followed by Chris ( Waldo) arrival.

brought Doug, who had a day's private turning tution by as the people of his Club demo didn't turn up for they had put the wrong date in their diaries (Is that worth a greenie ?), followed with Al ( Ozwinner) and Libby ( Mrs. Ozwinner).

A lovely time was held, great to meet Doug and Jules and catch up with the rest, and later when the rain started again we adjourned inside for a while.

Al brought along some lovely Cedar, which Doug and I shared, and offered me some stuff that hopefully will fix the rain problem, which I'll pick up on Tuesday. Thanks again Al.

I'll post the photos later when my daughter has loaded them to my computer, must get something in return for that education I provided for she is a whizz in that.

Photo 7 – group photo showing Al, Chris, Steve, , Doug, Jules, Elaine and Libby.

A special thanks to Elaine for all the work she has done in making the salads and being the hostess for the evening, especially as she had to go into hospital last weekend and only on Thursday afternoon was able to get out and about.

I picked up Doug this morning and we had a short shop-tour and hand planing session. He is now off to Flagstaff station to meet someone else, busy busy...

Good to meet you Doug, pity I missed Jules though. Funny thing though, the house that Doug is staying in is facing Kiwibrucee's workshop!

My apologies for not attending. As I expalined to Jules on Steve's mobile, Meg and I were frantic saving my shed from drowning. It got fairly wet (some parts 2 inches deep) but our efforts saved most of it. It's OK now - just a bit damp but not wet.

It looks like everyone had a good time and I am sorry not have been part of the fun.

Yes, we heard about your misfortune Rob and we commisserated (ever so briefly, mind you ) with you. This may have been a sign to spur you into building your new shed.

    Better luck next time.

    Thumbs up Top stuff that

    G'day,

A good few hours spent thanks Sturdee, and thanks too to Elaine. Was a real good evening of sitting back and relaxing with more blokes and women from this great forum. Put some more names to faces.

Hope the shed is drying out OK WoodBorer, haven't seen any planes floating down to my neck of the woods so they must be high and dry. (had a minor bit of flooding of about 7ft into my shed, just had to pull some timber of the floor and she was right)

Great to me some folk down from the home state. And look forward to catching up when you're down next Jules.
