Thanks Funky chicken, was a good day, finally got home not long after 5. Didnt see your post about the Bull oak until i got home, or i would have brought it straight in to you! You never know what might show up in your post box one day.

My thanks to FC and his mum for the day. I definitely learned quite a bit about turning, especially since I'm a total newbie at it. Donna, I am passing back through that way next weekend and I'll drop some Bull-oak off for FC. Thanks again everyone. cheers Derek

Sorry for the delay in replying. Neil, HWMNBO and I have only just gotten back in from having dinner at Hogg's Breath. Neil says 'Hello' from his comfy positon on the couch

It was an interesting day. Many thanks to Andrew and his Mum, Sandra, for hosting us. Great to see Funky getting involved in learning a few tips and tricks with turning. Ivan - did you count all your planes? I bet I wasn't the only one whose eyes glazed a bit when checking out your new additions

Also a special Thank You to Mrs Artme for helping out and bringing down the much-appreciated dip and chips - Thank you!

    Photos, Photos, here they are:

    1. Donna, Sandra (FC's Mum), Wendy, Anna (Ivan's friend)
    2. DerekH and Andrew (Funky Chicken)
    3. Ivan and Neil (Dai Sensei)
    4. Arthur (Artme) and Ken (FloobyDuster)
    5. Andrew (Funky Chicken) and the rest.....
    6. Donna - showed us how easy it is to heft logs around after having built ironbark furniture for a living for a while.

    cheers
    Wendy

    Okay here's the full report...

After sitting around and talking/showing off wood/work it was off to the "shed." I did a small turning demo and Ivan brought out his planes (some veeeeeeeeery nice HNTs which worked like a dream and a #7 and #8 (huge things them.)
Then delicious lunch and desserts supplied by everyone

Then everyone just sorta moseyed around swapping timber and yacking away. I got showed how to use a cabinet scraper by Ken (Flooby duster) while Neil swiped my Bull oak log

Over all it was a success.. Looking forward to next time
