Make a box valued at $3000 retail and gain the exclusive rights to manufacturing
I am writing this forem regarding the creation of a jewellery box I am designing. My name is Lana and I am a photographer from Melbourne, as well as I am also in my final year of school in which one of my subjects is Visual Communication and Designee. For this subject I need to designee a 3D object of some sort thus brings me to the jewellery box.
I am looking for a box maker to create my unique design. If any one is interested in helping me out in this journey, I will send them my technical drawing and plans for my jewellery box to be created and sent to me. In return the designee will become a co-creation and they will gain the writes to manufacturing.
If anyone would like to know more about my design before making any decisions that would be great and I could send them some of my initial sketches.
I do hope you consider my proposal, as I would love to work with someone to make this design come to life.
If you yourself are not able to help me with the creation of my design but know someone that may, please send this forum to them.
Kind Regards
Lana

For a retail of $3k, you'd need to make some pretty spiffy boxes.
This is the sort of level you'd need to be looking at (all carved from a single solid, no glue ups after shaping)

Lana was referred to me about making this box - more a chest, really - which she is in the process of designing as part of her VCE. It wasn't a suitable collaboration for me, firstly because I'm not in the same geographical area, and partly because the design isn't in my style. I commented that to make it economical to make, it would have to sell for at least $3000.
I suggested that Lana post here, because I think it could be a suitable project for a woodworking student who is looking for a collaborative project with a designer, or a hobby woodworker who is prepared to help a student.

Good luck with your project Lana; hope you find someone who can help you out.
Reality is no background music.

Hi Lana
This is very interesting, but I don't think I'd be up to the challenge, unfortunately. I agree with Alex, that working collaboratively would require someone close and I'm just a bit too far away too.
Have you had a chance to contact the local woodworkers in your area, eg Woodworking clubs, Furniture Designers and Makers?
How about contacting some of the woodworking schools, eg the Sturt School for Wood?
Cheers
