    Default Pool table hsc major timber help

    I plan on doing a pool table for my hsc major but I can't find the timber for it anywhere, I need a timber that is strong and has a deep rich colour. It also has to have a height of atleast 280mm, thickness of atleast 18mm and about 2m
    Cheers

    Hi, I am not in Sydney and do not know any Sydney members who may be able to help. (Sydneysiders where are you???)

    However, I have purchased timber from a number of NSW and Sydney suppliers over the years so you could try them if that is any help:
    Boutique Timbers on the north coast (http://www.boutiquetimbers.com/p/timber-selection.html)
    Trend Timbers in Mulgrave (http://www.trendtimbers.com.au/);
    Also, When I lived in Sydney I used to buy from Anagote timbers, who are now in Marrickville. (http://anagote.com/)

    Good luck.

    Try some of the salvage yards. There's a great place in sydney call ironwood. I've picked up some large oregon planks (100x250) from there and with a bit of work with the plane and various sanders they looked great.

    Hi, I'm not sure how far away you want to go, or how far you are, but Crescent Timbers in Annandale might be able to help. I don't know what flavours of wood they have, but they will be able to provide the sizes you want pretty easily.

    hth, good luck.
