There's a good CNC machine for sale on Gumtree in WA. Good price and features.

Pretty sure that was listed here not back. Very nice machine, a great deal of effort has gone into it!

Your spot on! Thought I’d seen it before. Has some high end components.

Yes. It was listed here earlier on but I didn't get the slightest nibble or even a comment. So, I withdrew it from sale and had a good think about it. I need to get rid of it due to an imminent move into a place where it cannot be accomodated and so have reduced the price by about $1800 from the original asking price and put it on Gumtree. Still not a nibble. Very dissappointing but I may have to scrap it and sell the parts to, at least, get a few dollars back.

I know very well the cost of parts for CNC, and the time involved to make a decent machine, let alone one as nicely put together as this one.

Unfortunately the people who realise the value in your machine, are also likely to because they already have a CNC machine. And for most people unless they investigate and research getting into CNC quite a lot, may not realise the differences between a standard Chinese 6040 and your machine, other than the the obvious visual differences, which they may not fully appreciate given their lack of knowledge.

So if you're able, making a few videos for Youtube showing it in action, machining wood, aluminium, etc, would be a great help. A video showing the basic operation and the benefits of your system, and comparison to others might help someone who's thinking of dipping their toes in CNC to make a more informed choice and realise the value your machine offers.

I think $3000 is a very reasonable price for the system and represents great value, the build quality is more along the lines of a bench mounted 6090, orders of magnitude superior to a standard 6040, but for someone new to CNC that's a lot of money to outlay for something they may not fully understand yet.

I also think though if you strip it down, you will not get very good prices piecemeal, and probably won't do very well at all out of it, and will probably be left with parts that will be difficult to move.

I strongly suspect if it doesn't sell at what your asking, dropping it to around $2.5k might be the sweet spot to push some people over and will still likely be more than you'd get in total stripping it down.

Whichever way you go, I wish you the best of luck! It's a ripper machine, I am surprised someone hasn't jumped at it.

    cheers, Ian

Looks like a ripper of a machine (!!), and seems like a good price, but WA is a looong way from many people in AU (for such a heavy+fragile machine). I'm kindof in the market myself, but $3k is over my "wince point" for something I don't understand yet. Good luck!

Maybe contact nearby men's sheds to see if they're interested?

It's a lot of money for a hobby, I'm not sure how many people here have that kind of budget to splash out.
