    Default Durden Pacemaker - Benchsaw/Planer

    .
I'm selling this item that is now surplus to requirements on behalf of the Aldgate Men's Shed. Offering here first before selling on Gumtree/eBay.

The Durden Pacemaker - 10" Benchsaw/Planer was made here in South Australia.

Solid cast iron table. Sturdy fence. Minor surface pitting on planer bed.

I think we still have the manual somewhere.

See photos below for more details.

    Inspection welcome.

    The asking price is $350.

Pickup from Aldgate or you arrange and pay for transport.

    Thanks for looking.
    Stay sharp and stay safe!

    Hi Neil,

I am a beginner in woodworking and live in Melrose Park (Adelaide). I have limited skills, limited budget and I don't have much time to dedicate to woodworking (and my wife will never allow me to buy a proper table saw, a proper jointer, etc...) So, this looks like a reasonable compromise for somebody like me who wishes to have tools around, but limited time and space for the hobby.
Not even sure if I can put it in the trunk of my car (with folded seats) or need to rent an ute.

Problem: I don't know how to use this benchsaw/planer that you are selling, so I trust the fact that it is fit for purpose . If you (or anybody at the men's shed) have a moment to show me how to use it, I might be interested.

Also, would $250 be a reasonable offer?

Cheers and thanks for the opportunity.

I'll talk to the chaps at the Men's Shed tomorrow and let you know.

This is a well made solid cast iron table machine, so definitely not a car transport job. A trailer or ute would be needed. We may be able to help with that as part of the price negotiations.

We can show you how to operate it at the Shed.

    Thanks Neil!
If you have a chance, could you please also take the size of this machine? (width x depth x height)?
From the picture I can't see well: is it mounted on wheels?

    Cheers

    Hi Kuriatko,
If you purchase this machine (and they are a good machine), I am often in the vicinity of your suburb. Before I retired, I was a Tech Studies teacher so could help you out with the occasional problem you encounter. If needed, just contact me via this site.

The measurements are 800 x 700 x 900 high, to top of table. That height includes a 30mm solid wood base plate. It doesn't have wheels but you could readily add those to that sturdy base plate.

I talked to the chaps and we are unable to offer any help with transport. They recommend a trailer to move it. You would also need some help to get it off at your end.

They want at least $300 for it and believe that we will get that on eBay or Gumtree.

So, price now dropped to $300 here.

    Thanks Neil,

Can you please let me know if there is any day/time during the incoming weekend when there is already someone around at the men's shed to have a look at this machine?
Or should we arrange an appointment and a person would be there on purpose just for me?

    Cheers.
