For those in the Sydney Hills district, I bought mine from this guy. Dearer then Aldav’s but will discount for bulk.

Mine needed a good scrub out - some type of cosmetic product.

I had a look at the fiber drums posted. The lid is not air tight. It is ply lid and a metal clip which goes around the edges. Any ideas on how to get it air tight?

My first thought would be a suitable rubber extrusion from Clark Rubber or alternative supplier. In my experience once you have the extractor operating the lid is sucked down pretty firmly so maybe even some suitable tape around the top edge of the drum between the drum and ply would be enough.

I use a large propane tank cut in half for my dust separator, and I just picked up a couple of metres of 1/2" soft engine hose from Supercheap Auto for a few dollars and slit it end to end to end and fitted it around the rim of the tank. Once the extractors on it forms a very tight seal.
cheers, Ian

I am using a kit I got from Carbatek and a plastic 200L "pickle barrel". I can use it with my Dewalt thicknesser without the dust extractor running as the Dewalt has it's own exhaust blower! I hold the top plate onto the drum with a couple of tie-down straps. When I want to empty the drum I just undo the straps and wheel the drum away.
