It cost me $350 to get the Wadkin BSW 650 from Cairns, so the total cost to me including the cost of the saw wasn't too bad. If I think the asking price is fair when taking into account shipping then I will buy it, providing I find it interesting and old with lots of rust

Crikey only $350, you couldn't drive from the Sunny Coast to Cairns for that in a ute / trailer or light truck.

Yes there seems to be a massive difference in prices, I recently bought a forklift (old & rusty) weighing 6 Tonne from Pitt Town, NSW and the prices were coming in at $3K and above for shipping, then I got a price for $900, so I think it depends a lot on filling their trucks for return trips and getting lucky.

It was good buying that saw from what I could tell and would have been handy for the farm. Good pickup

I know someone who bought a PK from NZ which was an OK price but the shipping mob under quoted and turned into a disaster. Unsure of the specifics but sounded like it got to a point of not being worth it! Pays to know your stuff when dealing with freighting mobs and some luck can go a long way!

Shipping is a real gouge at the moment, even domestically. A skid of material that I have received from a vendor many times in the past has increased in price gradually over the past few years. However in the past 11 months it has jumped from $90 to $200 with the same major freight carrier. Service has been excellent though and delivered in excellent condition in the past.
