Thread: A box of shopmade knives, and a try of pyrography

Hi, all,

First there were only three shop-made marking knives, then I made another four knives to complete the whole set. The blades are high carbon steel, tempered in oil to make them stronger. The handles are solid oak. Then I made a home for the brood in this summer, which is a plain, ordinary looking plywood box. Even the plywood is very cheap board used for construction works. It has been hiding in my garage for a few months. This week I decided to try out my first pyrography, then I remembered that plain box. It took me two and half hours to finish that picture on the box. Well, it is not so bad as my very first wood burning picture, brings the box alive. Comparing to my marquetry work, pyrography is not so difficult and less time consuming. It worth a try. Just remember when you are doing pyrography please don a mask, because the smell of the burnt plywood is just stinky.
