I made a ukelele with a bunya pine top and finished it with tung oil and liquid beeswax.

I later burned a celtic dragon fly on the top near the bridge using a laser etching machine. I am wondering whether the charred image needs fixing with some sort of finish, and what that finish may be. Should I use the same tung oil and bees wax, coat the charred parts with something that will build a film - like lacquer or polyurethane, or just leave it alone?

Thank you for any advice.
