    Default american crescent bandsaw.

Has anyone some info on these bandsaws. Mine is complete but at the moment partly dismantled for transport. Had it running and it was a beautifull unit. No vibration whatsoever. Like to know a little bit more about them.

Maybe post this on the antique machinery feed, you might find someone there with info.

There are a number of people quite familiar with Crescent and later Rockwell/Crescent bandsaws at Old Woodworking Machines - Index page , and are quite helpful.

Thanks Norcal, Unfortunately everything has come to a standstill for the moment. Untill I get a new shed build not much will be happening.
Still have all my gear but it is all stacked on top of each other.
Check out Wairewa Victoria and you will know why, About half of the place has gone and the final clean up has just started.
Not to worry we will get through this one again.

I live near Paradise, CA which was almost completely destroyed in the 2018 Camp Fire, it reached the outskirts of the People's Republic I live in, the same evening of the day the fire started, a scary & sad situation as were the Australian Bush Fires and always will be.

Gerrit, I have an early 1900s 36" Crescent. I came across this documented restoration which is excellent which you have no doubt come across:

Crescent 36" Band Saw Restoration - VintageMachinery.org Knowledge Base (Wiki)

I'll be starting my restoration once I get through some current projects. I've currently actually got 4 saws (it's a long story). I'll sell two (McPherson & L.S. Barker) and keep two (Wadkin & Crescent).

I love the classic old school look of this saw - to me it's a thing of beauty!
