Band Saw Tyres
This is my first post, so hope I am in the right place.
I have acquired an old CMC Band Saw which I am trying to bring up to speed. The surface of the wheels have have a solid coating that is rough and irregularly worn, and have no tyre. What is the best way to renovate these.

Dear Forum members and bandsaw experts,
Where are you.
Is this a forum or an old boys club.
surely there must be some bandsaw enthusiasts who know what to do here.
Any more information required to be able to help ?

Must have just slipped by in the christmas/newyear chaos.
OK two things the best is to get a new tyre/tyres vulcanised on. I don't know who does it atm but I have had it done by a firm out at Tomago, the guys at Newcastle bandsaws should know. The second best is to buy neoprene bands which you can stretch and glue onto the wheels and you get them from maybe Carbatec or similar. Probably best for you as they will be posted out. The only real difference is that the vulcanised rubber can stand significantly more centrifugal force. As it is an old machine I am assuming that you are not going to be ramming it up to warp speed.

Being an old GMC the tyres will most likely cost more than the machine is worth, unless you make something up yourself

I found a place in SA that was redoing rubber bandsaw tyres a few years ago. Was worth more than I could justify for my old Paul Call bandsaw. Think it was about $170 per wheel plus delivery. Ended up using Carter tyres from Gregory Machinery. No problems so far.
There are plenty of eBay sellers of urethane tyres.

Thanks
Thanks for the replies. They are 20" wheels so will try to purchase rubber or urethane bands to fit over them.
Cheers

These guys can help you.

I have a set of their uncrowned tires on my 36" and they are fine. I used a 3M spray adhesive Hi Strength 90 to stick the urethane to the steel. I would try to find a brush on or tube type adhesive. The spray is messy.
