    Delbs,

I don't know who you dealt with at Gregorys, but if it's of any help you could ask for Landen. He's the chap who handled my order from the beginning and he seemed quite pleasant and helpful. I had course to contact him both via email and on the phone several times and he was always friendly and professional. He even told me when I asked if I would be better off buying the more expensive Italian made bandsaw of the same size, (thinking he might have been on a commission basis), that he would rather see me put the extra money towards buying timber rather than spending it on the other machine.
My delivery costs were quoted as $160 for delivery to a Goulburn depot (probably Star Express) which is where all my orders from Carba-tec are delivered, but if I wanted it brought to my door, it was another $60.00. There was never any mention that a tail lift truck was going to cost extra.
My saw's cost being the 18" model was dearer obviously at $2195.00.
Hope this info is of some help to you in some way or other.

    Good Luck,
    Bob

    Default Bugger!

This is take two with this post cause I have the right buttons to push now where they were not here the first time I tried to write this.

This isn't gonna look good. No A/A button to activate, so no paragraphs sorry.

My shower was a quick one cause I forgot to turn the water heater on earlier. That's what I get for trying to only use my power during the off peak periods!

Anyhow gentlemen, my saw is here at last! The truck driver was a great help as he helped me get it in through my shed door with his pallet lift trolly, but the pallet the saw was screwed to was damaged which put the whole thing on a perilous lean after we finally got it inside.
Anyhow after he departed, I was left with the saw leaning badly on it's damaged pallet. First I was able to cut the cardboard box off with a knife then, with a bit of juggling and some slight of hand, I managed to separate the saw from the pallet with a ratchet spanner, all the time holding the thing up with one hand hoping I could get it off without it falling over and landing on my empty head.
I was able to get a few pics before I had to call it a day because my legs just couldn't handle it any longer.
I'll try to get them down loaded tomorrow morning. I have to use another computer to do this so hopefully everything will come together and I can get it all nice and pretty.

...waiting with baited breath Bob, say that 3 times fast after a few brews.
    But not with the oxycodene.
Hope you take lots of pics as I would like too know everything I can about this saw.
My next purchase, hopefully within the next 6 months.
    Cheers

Glad to hear that you finally have it. I had the same problem with the pallet but was able to get some help in getting it off. Good to hear I am not the only one with the disappearing A/A button

DJ,Here we go again....no A/A button to play with. For my situation I put it down to the fact that the computer I'm using now is an old Apple Mac desktop that was rebuilt after a lightening strike a few months ago, plus the fact that because of my remote location, my internet reception is via satellite which unfortunately is slow and unpredictable. Plus when I tried to upload pics with the "manage attachments" button, I can't get the screen to d/l. I did however this morning try it on my new Mac and everything is all hunky dory, so I'll try to get anything special for the Forum like posting pics done on the other puter. So please don't think that at least in my case that there's anything wrong with the Forum's performance. Many thanks for your concern,Bob

Bob I don't think the problem has anything to do with your system being an old Apple. I have seen the problem on two separate systems - one a 12 month old Toshiba laptop and the other a home build using an ASUS motherboard using Intel chips. Both running Win7 and IE10. At the moment the A/A button is OK.

    Default The arrival.......at last!

    Gentlemen ............... one and all,

It's that time of day again where I down tools and try to scrub the day off in a hot shower. Yes, I actually remembered to turn the water heater on earlier this time. So, to whet your appetites a little I shall now endeavour to show you the pics from yesterday during and after the saw's arrival.
I shall now attempt to present to you those pics. Fingers crossed!
BTW, I just looked at them and couldn't believe I took such crappy photos!! Sorry guys, hopefully the others will come out better.

BobR..My problem wasn't so much that the A/A wasn't working, but more the fact that it didn't show up at all. Anyhow all that is over come when I get off my proverbial and use the newer computer rather than just lazily reaching over to grab the one closest at hand which is my old one next to my lounge chair.

    Cheers,
    Bob

    Default The Assembly

Ok, now that you've seen part one, it's time for today's efforts to be revealed.
I read through the instruction manual last night and while I had seen it before on line, it didn't really show all that much more than common sense would have surmounted.
I didn't really get a chance to get into it until the afternoon as I had a visitor in the morning, so after my usual midday rest and recuperation, I got into the assembly full time. Just me and the dog, though the chooks did poke their heads in occasionally to make sure I was doing things right.
The first step was to get the motor bolted up and I managed this pretty easily, but with the motor in my right hand and trying to do up the bolts with my left, I found it a bit of a pain considering that I had the misfortune to have lopped off the top of my left thumb on a bench saw a few years ago. This makes it hard to grasp things with any degree of surety due to the lack of feeling at the tip of my thumb. Anyhow things progressed fairly well so that within 10 minutes, I had managed to get the motor mounted, the drive belt engaged and tensioned and the saw bench and fence all in place.
At one stage I thought the bench torsion bar was missing, but I found it tucked into the bottom of the lower door. Phew!
The instruction manual differs a bit in what they describe and what is actual hard facts, but I just put that down to the point that it was meant for so many different countries.
Anyhow I got it up and running with very few worries and then mounted the blade and tracked and tensioned it by hand ready for it maiden run tomorrow. I have to say that the Resaw King Blade looks like it's going to be a force to be reckoned with because even as I was just turning the top wheel by hand, it sliced almost half way through the instruction manual before I even noticed!
So in conclusion I will now present you with today's pics and hope that they're better than the fuzzy failures I took yesterday. Enjoy.

    Ahhh...'tis a thing of beauty

The Laguna 14"SUV is well and truly on my wishlist, so have been following this thread with interest. I'm in NSW Southern Highlands, so my shipping options/costs would be much the same as yours.

Enjoy making some big bits of timber into smaller bits !! We look forward to seeing some pics of 2mm veneers, straight off the saw

    Cheers

    Default Progress........the next step.

No A/A button again. Spent this morning moving the bandsaw from where it was dumped when it arrived to the other side of my table saw and its final resting place. The reason for its position there is because the 3 machines that require a 15 amp outlet need to be grouped relatively close for obvious reasons. It was quite an effort to get it moved over an uneven wooden floor then fit the leveling supports to the base by myself, but I got it done and even with it being quite cold here today, I worked up a fair sweat. The rest of the morning was spent setting the blade guides and readying the saw for its maiden run. A bit of a hint that is probably pretty obvious to most, but I just wanted to mention, that to adjust the bottom guides, it is a lot easier to remove the blade base plate as this will give you complete access and a better view of the whole process. Ok, time to head back out to the shed and see if I can assemble the new 2hp dust collector that arrived earlier this week from Carba-tec. This is going to be fun because it will be dedicated purely for the bandsaw's 2x100mm outlets and as such, I am going to use as little flexible tubing as possible so I can make the whole system out of 100 and 90 mm water pipe and fittings to make the system as efficient as possible. I shall return!
