    Default bandsaw advice

    Hi

There is a bandsaw for sale on eBay for $399 - would this be a good entry level machine? Any advice would be appreciated. It is a T.S TS10WB 10" Wood Bandsaw 245mm Industrial 1/2 HP WARRANTY.

    Thanks,

Carbatec have 10 Inch bandsaws from $339, But it depends on the type of woodworking your doing though. Carba-Tec 10" Bandsaw : CARBA-TEC

Personally I would be looking for something thats 14 inches as a good all round machine.

Just save a search on ebay and I sure you'd pick one up pretty quick.

    good luck

    Default The Saw.

    Hi Malthemender,
    Seems a bit dear for a 10in..
You should be able to pick up a 14in. 2nd. Hand, for $280 - 300.
    Certainly could in Vic. anyway.
    Regards,

    Hi
Thank you joez, issatree and bosox for your helpful replies, much appreciated.

I will use the bandsaw in conjunction with lathe work but as I'm a new-comer to woodworking/turning it would be good to have one that is general purpose too.
Looks like I better be patient and wait for a secondhand 14 inch machine.

    all the best,

I have a 9" , which gets a lot of use and ABUSE , by doing cuts it is not really suited for, a 14"will be far better larger capacity, more power, save your money and buy new if you can,.

    Hi vk4,
Thanks for the feedback. Yes I think I will go for a 14 inch. Carba-tec have the BAS-350B which seems good especially as it takes a 3.2mm blade; handy for cutting shapes/toymaking etc.

    all the best
