Bandsaw bearing guide question
The bearings in my JET bandsaw guides were getting a bit gluggy so I decided to replace them. I thought the side bearings were actually 3 bearings on each side but on removing them found they were only 2 with a bearing like spacer similar to what is shown below (although mine was shiny not black)

This confuses me as the back of the blade guide bearing location means that even when using my big blade, it will never ride on the back bearing of the side guides, it will only ever ride on the front bearing (for small blades) or the front bearing and the spacer (for large blades).
So I'm thinking since they are pulled apart and I'm installing new bearings, why not put 2 bearings together in the front and put the spacer on the back (rear of guide)? That way the blade always has either 1 (for small blades) or 2 bearings per side.
Any comments? Anyone see any issues?

On my BS the bearing behind the blades can be adjusted backwards and forwards so that optimised side bearing contact can be made.

I can't see any issues Neil, makes more sense to me to have both bearings doing the work, I have two bearings side by side for blade side support on my BS.

So does mine Bob, but to engage the back bearing on mine, the front bearing is past the gullet on the biggest 1" blade my bandsaw can take.
Yes Pete, there are many bandsaws with just 2 bearings side by side, so I was assuming it wouldn't be a problem.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new
