Default Best bandsaw blade for crosscutting

Can anyone please advise on the profile and size of the bandsaw blade that will give the smoothest crosscut finish for 12 mm thick x 150mm wide hardwood? Thin or wide blade, lots of teeth or few, bimetal or carbide tipped teeth, whatever

I am not expecting a glueline finish, but one that requires very lightest of sanding to achieve this
    regards,

    Dengy

I would say something around 6tpi or less would be the best bet but wood that size would also cut with a tenon saw in not much time. I can cut a reasonably square crosscut on my bandsaw with the miter guage but if your blade has drift then a handsaw would be a better option.

Basically the more teeth you use the finer the cut and the wider the blade the easier it is to do a straight cut. So 10 or 14 tpi would wizz through 12mm thick wood but leave a very smooth cut and a bandsaw say 15mm wide would be stable enough to guide without much drift.

I may have misled by saying 6 or less teeth. I was thinking 6tpi or smaller and that means more teeth not less. Sorry for the brain fade.

10-14 TPI band saw blade. Use fewer teeth for thicker wood; more TPI for thinner materials.
