    Default Need a bandsaw Dr

I have a Halco Waoodmaster 355 bandsaw about two years old, I am not able to get blade to run true, the blade will sit perfectly on the top wheel (centre of tyre) but then the blade sits on the rim of the lower wheel and naturally comes of after a few minutes. Even when the guides are removed it occurs. When the blade is centred on the lower wheel, and placed in position on the top wheel the same thing happens. Can any one assist with my problem. Thank you.

When did this first start happening, was the blade changed and then it started?

    How old is the blade?

Has the BS been apart for repairs?

Sounds like there's no crown left on the wheels/tyres.

I'd like to see photos of what you think is the the band sitting correctly on the top and bottom tyres.

I take it you are aware that the top wheel is adjustable to track the blade.

The bs is two years old and the tyres on both wheels are good. I changed from a 1/2inch blade to a 1/4 around January this year and then it started, since then i have gone through three 1/4 blades by damaging them in the machine when they come off the wheel. The machine was new so no it has not been repaired.

Does the 1/2" blade do the same thing now?

Make any major setting changes when you first put the 1/2" blade on?

Could replace the wheel tyres but after only two years they shouldn't be a problem.

No changes except for realigning the guides when i swopped to smaller blade and perhaps a small twinge of the top wheel.
spoke to mach8nery warehouse this afternoon, they suggest pulling the top wheel off and loomking to see everything there is tightly screwed together.

Are you locking the tracking adjustment on the top wheel with the lock lever after adjustment?

Yes, everything gets tighten after an alteration, tomorrow i shall strip it down and check if the two wheels are in enliinement, has been suggested that when assembled the tracking mechanism may be missing somethin. It came assembled so who knows who did what. Thanks everyone for your comments

Some times it's just a simple oversight.

My Woodfast BS500 came assembled as well, but a few things were not aligned well at all but still functioned OK. More annoying than anything, like the table offset to blade, so the insert got chewed out pretty quickly.

Likewise my table was way out of alinement on delivery and on dismantling the tracking works today, they are pretty worn, if fact they are rubbish. Will be getting some stronger bolts to refit. I think this the why i have had this tracking problem..

When do the 1/4" ones come off the wheel?

Hate to disillusion you, but I suspect that the Jet comes from the same country, and quite likely the same manufacturer. You might be better organising to retrofit cheap and nasty screws/bolts with respectable ones throughout the existing saw.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.
