    Default Bandsaw Drive Belt

Could not get belt to suit my bandsaw - so I made my own.

Purchased 10mm diameter Neoprene from Clark Rubber and used Superglue to join the ends.

Cost of Neoprene was $10.00 per metre - you can buy it in 100mm increments.

    Default

    THanks for the tip.
Old sherline bandsaw my dad inherited has no support nowadays, but after reading your post I just went to the rubber shop and bought 10mm o-ring cord and loktite superglue, made my own belt. The saw was up and running in an hour or so.
    Cheers, thelloydr

    Default joining rubber

I know these posts a little old, but thought that i may be able to give some assistance for others in the future. I used to work at Clark rubber (and its New zealand sister Para Rubber) and had to join rubber and neoprene cords fairly frequently. We used super glue to join the ends, but the key is to cut each end at an angle (like a scarf joint in wood) so that there is a greater surface area. The trick when joining by this method is to ensure that the length of the band is correct (more difficult than simply cutting the two ends square and butt joining them. Hope this helps.
