Bandsaw Dust extraction
Some members may know this already but others may not be aware of it.
Despite some decent DE, on all the bandsaws I ever used there has always been a lot of sawdust left on the table especially after long cuts.
This is pretty typical of what I see
The headaches come when this dust is pushed onto the floor by subsequent cuts
In a discussion in the dust forum Don Burch mentioned removing the throat plate really helps, so I tried that a this is what I get
The thought of constantly removing and replacing the throat plate for small pieces or of pieces falling down the hole did not inspire me.
Then MandJ mentioned that their BS had an 8 mm x 20 mm slot behind the blade so I took my throat plate out and widened the slot and turned it around and . . . .
When looked on a number of websites I found that, where visible, some of the slots were positioned in front and some behind the blade.
It's such a simple improvement I wonder it has not been more widely circulated.
