Bandsaw newby
Let me start with thread, that I know next to nothing about bandsaws.
Now recently I bought one off ebay, its a small 1/3 HP unit cost me a whole $60, main reason behind buying it was to learn about them before spending more on a better machine.
I have replaced a missing nut and bolt and cleaned up the bandsaw and got it running so the blade stays on.
I'm having trouble with cutting, it seems to cut the 1st 25 - 50 mm ok but then becomes bogged down and sometimes stalls. I'm aware of how grunty the 1/3 Hp motor is, but i'm only cutting pine and some 12 mm chipboard, is this a sign that the blade is blunt? Or the machine is that hopeless and was originally sold a s a April Fools joke?

Could be that the TPI is too fine and its not clearing out the sawdust quick enough.
Cheers

That's heading into the fine cutting territory and would require a fairly slow feed rate, try backing the feed rate off a bit to give it time to clear the swarf and let it cut at its own pace.
If you can cut the first 25-50mm before it bogs down, that sounds like its not clearing out the swarf not blunt, if it was blunt it wouldn't get the first 25-50mm done would it.Cheers

Problem solved, bought a new blade with a TPI of 6, now it cuts like a champion.
