    Default Bandsaw safety

    When using my bandsaw with dust collector running and wearing ear protectors I nearly cut my hand on the still moving blade although I had switched the machine off. A short while later I read an article on the Fine Woodworking site in which the author, having experienced a similar close shave, designed and fitted an LED light display that flashes when the upper wheel is turning. I have since fitted a similar device and found it to work well.     Default Quick and simple idea

    Have a small piece of timber with a bandsaw slot cut it it. Place it over the blade when you've finished and the blade is stationary. Once you get in the habit then the safety rule is simple. No wood on the blade means it is potentially moving so treat with care. Low tech safety but it works.

    I want to add something. Shop accidents can happen anytime. Band saw looks dangerous but it's really not. Respect
