Thread: Bandsaw setter in action

I brought the bandsaw blade setter home from the Tree Loppers yard where it normally resides and I use it to et blades for a bandsaw mill.
I brought it home so I could modify it ro handle sub 1 TPI pitches - current limit is 1TPI.

While I had the setter home I thought I would use it to reset the teeth on my 1.3 TPI ripping blade for my 19" BS and while I was at it I made a couple of short vids of it working.
The Setter itself is made by a Queensland company called Dinasaw.

You should be able to see the setting pawls repeated moving the teeth alternately; Left - Right - Neutral

The setter is fairly quick to set up (about 2 minutes) when switching between blades of different pitches.
If the blade just needs a reset of the exisiting teeth. it takes about 2 minutes to set up for a blade with coarse pitch and proportionate longer for finer pitches
If the teeth need to be sharpened the setting is normally done twice so about 4 minutes.

Notice the "hand saw setter" on the bench - what happened to my ripping blade was it came off the wheels (forgot to set the tension !) and broke and bent a few teeth. the hand setter was used to correct the set on the 2 teeth that were completely out of whack. The loss of couple of teeth doesn't seem to slow it down at all although the "chicketty-chick-chick" sound made by the blade can be a bit disconcerting.

It takes about 15 minutes to reset the sharpener for different pitches and teeth profiles and the about another 15 minutes of testing at slow speeds before it is left to run as fast at the vid,
Once its all set up it takes about 6 minutes to sharpen a 5.3m long 1TPI blade.
