    Default My first bandsaw

I saw a little GMC at Bunnings yesterday for $89.00. I figure it would be OK as a stop-gap measure, 'till I can talk the boss into letting me spend $1.5k on something halfway decent. Any thoughts?

    Waste of money?

Hard to see how you could go wrong at that price...

Just remember it can never do the stuff a full sized bandsaw will do or have the accuracy but for small thin cuts or hobby work, these type of things are ok. At least you will find out if you really want to continue with this hobby

What better one to practice on? When it's time to buy the proper thing you'll know the lingo and how to work it.

    Zaphod,

I have one of those and was just around at Henry Bros today to get a decent blade.

The one supplied is a 1/4" 6tpi blade and takes a lot of setting up (as do all band saws).

    I am looking at a 1/4' or 3/8" 3 tpi.

    Still learning how to resaw.......

Using it as a toy (or as Henry Bros said "hobbyists saw")

Don't overwork it and you may learn something about band saws.
