Thread: Bandsaw table height

For resawing long lengths particularly, I can't understand why the table isn't the same height as all the other machinery or at least the table saw?

I think I'm used to it at it's stock height plus the wheels for all else, but it gets quite awkward at that height when going the big rip, and I have thought about dropping it on more than one occasion!

I agree with midge. I've been thinking about building in/outfeed tables for mine, but don't particularly want yet another set taking up space.

Methinks I should look at dropping mine down too... 'cept I also do a lot of fine work, inc. veneering, where it's current height is good. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. [sigh]

Me too! I agree with your observations and those of Midge and Skew.

My Metabo-Elactra-Beckum B/S has a table height that is 1,100 mm (just went out to the shed and measured it), some 140mm higher than the T/S. Even though I'm 6'2", it's still too high for resawing.

What would suit me is a B/S table height the same as the T/S - for resawing, but closer to the 1,100mm for general work.

If you lower it to tablesaw height it will be a lot easier for resawing.
For other work its too low unless you sit on a stool or chair.
My workshop chair is an old height adjustable office chair, makes life easier.

Derek, did you end up changing the BS height. I have been looking for good table extension ideas when I came across this thread and think lowering to TS height maybe a better option. Take up less space and I agree for resawing the standard of 1100ish is too high. I have set my TS, bench and mobile carts at 900 and if I put the BS on wheels gives plenty of infeed and outfeed options.
