Thread: Bandsaw tyre coming off

Haven't used this bandsaw for a few years but have never had any problems with it either. It's maybe 10 years old or so and in that time I've never replaced the tyres. When I fired her up today with the blade pictured, the tyre on the upper wheel tried to come off, sparking a few questions:

From memory, bandsaw tyres need to glued in place--is that true? I'm guessing the adhesive has perished in this case--do you agree?

Is contact adhesive the correct adhesive for this job? Any thoughts about re-gluing this tyre or should I replace? Where do we obtain new bandsaw tyres in Australia? This is a Caratec saw but I can't say I've ever seen them selling replacement tyres.

The saw was left with the blade in place but tension left off and the machine covered... I'm wondering if the teeth of the blade picked up a bit of tyre material after being sat for such a long time or if perhaps it was the rubber that perished in the dry WA heat 😢
