Default Bandsaw tyres - crown yes/no?

Have an old 3 wheel no name bandsaw that is very similar to the Craftmaster. By no means the best machine on earth but for the moment will have to do.
Unfortunately the tyres have gone. Searched the forum for info and went down the Clark Rubber path - bought rubber strip, cut it to length, joined and glued to wheels.

Do you think I can get the blade to stay on - not a chance! No matter how much I tried adjusting top wheel the blade just tracked off one wheel or another.
The old tyres had a crown but a number of posters have said this isn't necessary - is it on some machines?

It looks like your machine was designed for crowned tyres, could you post a pic of the machine and the diameter of the wheels, .
I would call CARBA TECH , MC JING TOOLS , as these company's would most likely be able to supply tyres.

Also CARTERS in the USA, and DRAPER TOOLS in England sell different size tyres.

    Hope this helps,

Never heard that one before. Unless your wheels are perfectly flat, true, balanced and aligned with each other you're chances of getting a blade to stay on without a crowned wheel are pretty much zip.

Or try and make your tyres crowned but wrapping twice or three times the wheel some wrapping twine, then put your tyres over the top (and no knots or bumps.
It doesn't need to be much to cause the blade to run to the centre (happens as soon there is a crown higher than the edges).
Worth a try, its only a ball of twine.

You can use urethane tires instead of the rubber tire you’re using right now. You won’t need to glue urethane tires not like rubber tires. You just have to make sure that the tires you select are sized a couple inches smaller than the wheel for a good and reliable fit. Remember, a band saw tire is a vital piece of equipment on a band saw as it keeps the blade from making contact with the wheel and causing damage. You can order aftermarket urethane tires from this site -http://bandsawparts.com/ultra_blue_urethane_tires.cfm.

Thanks everyone for all the info and advice.
Unfortunately work has gone feral so haven't had a chance to do anything to sort out the bandsaw.
Hopefully things will settle down soon and I can get back to the important things in life
