Barker Band Saw Guards
I have recently come across a Barker Band Saw which I should be picking up in the next few weeks. I didnt have tape on me when I checked it out but I am fairly certain its a 36".
The saw doesnt have any guards, and I was wondering if any one had any experience making guards, or locating originals/aftermarket guards to suit?

Nice saw. You'll probably have to make some I doubt you'll be able to buy guards ready made.
You'll probably have to make them. I've made a set from plywood before but I think if I had to make them again I'd use 1mm sheet steel but that would depend on you're welding and metalwork skills. As far as design, I'd have a look at some modern saws and copy their design.

I welded up a full set of guards for my 24" E.V.Beronius bandsaw from 3mm mild steel plate. I rekon it is up to modern European safety standards now.
Feel free to ask questions if you are interrested in how I did it.

Yep. I am in Europe. Western coast of Finland.
Wow. So they did export Beronius machinery to Australia too.
The Beronius piedestal type jointers seem to be good machines. What does it look like?
E.V.Beronius Mekaniska Verkstads Aktiebolag was founded in 1872 in Eskilstuna, Sweden and bought by Munktells Mekaniska Verkstad also of Eskilstuna in 1917. However their woodworking machines were sold under the Beronius name well into the 1930-ies.
It seems like the machines with the name cast as E.V.Beronius M.V.A.B are pre merger and those with the name cast only as Beronius are post merger. What age is your jointer?
Beronius was very early with using ball bearings on their woodworking machines. I suppose they must have gone from white metal to ball bearings in the early 1910-s.
Munktells Mekaniska Verkstad went to a long chain of mergers and is now Volvo Construction Equipment.
