Thread: BAS 350 vs BP 16A?
-
8th November 2008, 05:25 PM #16
i have a fairly new bp16a got it about 6 months ago it is a biliant.
the only probelm is teh upper guide is not parralel to the blade.if it rubs the blade at the top its 1/4" away at the bottom nothing a few shims cant fix thow.
and as with any machine there are design flaws.
the tensioner nob needs a handle on it to make it easyer to use.
you have to remove the fence guide to change blades.
otherwise its a briliant machine.
no problem ripping threw 215mm spotty gum (full height).
o yer the blade you get with it is a p.o.s.

Thanks for all your suggestions along the wayCheers,

Sadly - the eBay item was not what I thought it was so I am back in the market for a saw.
Cheers,
Shannon.

I have the Woodfast BS-350 and am very happy with it. All adjustments are easy and the build quality is pretty good, you just need to spend some time adjusting everything to straight & square. I only had one problem with the no-volt switch. I got lazy & let too much dust build up in the top wheel and the result was dust tracking down through the column and into the back of the switch preventing contact. Dis-assembly & cleaning fixed it though and has not recurred in over a year now.

Found one (again)
Well it looks like the BAS-350 was meant to be after all. It is even in Santa colours

Picked this bad boy up today on eBay. Not sure how old/what build, but seller stated it was same as carbatec model but re-badged for TTI. Anyway I'm sure it will give me something to play with and that's what it is all about. Glad I ended up with the two-speed too.
*now tracking down BS-350 mods/improvements/tips*
Thanks guys.Cheers,
Shannon.

Nice score Robomanic, but it seems to be missing a fence?
What size motor?

Fence, missing from where? hehe Nah, well spotted it is in fact missing the rip fence. That does not bother me. I bought these about six months ago (scrap not new) to use for fences and guides etc so I should be covered when I get sick of clamping something down for the quick jobs. I have an idea for something pretty easy that clamps at both ends of the fence which I am looking forward to having a go at but who knows when
