    Default Which Blade?

Learned friends, I am lost. I want to resaw dry rainforest timbers in billet form between 100mm and 150mm thick into 10 or 12mm boards. I have read all the old threads and there is some conflicting info. I bought a Socomec SN460 bandsaw, with 18" wheels and it can run a 25 mm blade. Some of the replies to previous threads said not to run the 25mm blade for various reasons. So today I rang my usual supplier of blades for my other 3 bandsaws and he said run a 25mm blade with 1tpi.
Can anyone give me some real world experience with similar machines and which Blade they are using?
    Thanks,
    Rgds,
    Crocy.

Are you planning on using a TCT or bi-metal blade. I have no experience with your particular machine, BUT I would suspect that the fact that it's a European built Machine (?) means it would have a good chance of tensioning a 25mm bi-metal blade. If you're talking about TCT I'd be more inclined to get a 3/4" (19mm) blade. You would never regret stumping up the extra for a TCT blade.

I agree, a 3/4" TCT blade is a good choice as you can just about guarantee your saw will be able to tension that blade. A Laguna re-saw king is a thinner band a requires less tension so that blade in 25mm could well work. The TCT blades are expensive but Lennox Trimaster has been on my saw for many years and still cuts well. I don't know how many ton of firewood I have put through it including the odd bits of fasteners but it has been a lot. Checking the tension can be done using a vernier caliper and there are some YT videos on how to do that. BTW the Laguna blade can be resharpened but Henry Bros who supplied mine say the Lennox Trimaster can't be though others reckon they have done it.

Thanks guys, I will leave the TC blade for down the track, I will try a bi-metal like my big saw and see how that goes. The saw is Italian made as well.
