    Default Blade Selection

    Hi All
Have just taken delivery of a new Hammer N4400 bandsaw
I intend to do a lot of resawing and cutting of raw logs into boards in time along with some boxes etc.
I am new to the bandsaw side of things and was woundering what would be a good selection of blades to start of with.
It came with a standard 3/4 inch blade from Hammer.
    Regards
    Stewy

Hey stewie take a look at the laguna resaw king if you are going to be doing a lot of resawing, it will last you for ages and cuts such a smooth finnish. I know they might be a bit expensive but they are deffinately worth it! heres a link Resaw King - Laguna Tools - 800.234.1976
also you might want to get the largest blade that your bandsaw will allow.

    good luck
    indeed.

Henry Bros Henry Bros Saws - Bandsaw blades & circular saw blades have always had a good reputation in these forums, I have a Hammer, and have not changed my blade/s yet but intend to get a bimetal 2 or 3 tooth 3/4 in or 1 in blade as a replacement. Give them a call

I use a 1/2" 3 tpi bimetal skip blade from Henry Bros for everything on my 4400.

Stewy, Hammer recommend that you do not go over 3/4" on the 4400.

Oh I see. Sounds good. You mentioned that you are using a bi metal blade , right choice . Me, I am using different types of blades, got Haltbar Sagen carbon, carbide and bi metal blades.

I wouldn't worry about using the 1in too much. I have used 1in 3TPI's from Henry Bros, for ages now, on my N4400. They work great.
The only thing - I de-tension my blade after finishing for the day.

    Thanks for the replies everyone
Blades arrived yesterday from Mcdivins in Melb(good service too) so will try and put them to use soon
There manual says that 1" is the max so I will certainly be using the 1" blade that I have now and see how it goes
