Blade Tension on Craftsman Bench Top Band Saw
Good morning, I am new to the Woodwork Forum and I would like to ask a question. I purchased a 9 inch bench top band saw (351.214190) at a garage sale. Downloaded the manual, purchased the proper blades (62 inch) and when I tried to tension the blade it would not tension tight enough. This is my first bandsaw so I do not know that much about them. The blade tension lever and blade tension knob appear to be OK. Thanks in advance, Chris

I believe that the blade is too long , I would check the blade size , by measuring the track around both wheels.
ensure that the manual you down loaded is the correct one, and is the blade size marked on the machine????
I have a 9" bench bandsaw , and the blade length is 56" .
I have attached Pic's of my bandsaw .

The larger blades take a little more tension and the smaller blades can take a little less tension. What's your blade width by the way?

Thanks for the info Jeff. I checked the measurement around the track of both wheels and it was 62 inches. I doublechecked the manual and it was correct. The blade size stated on the machine is 62 inches. I brought my little bandsaw to Ft Worth and a company there took my blade and shortened it. I made a couple of new friends and now all I have to do is call them and they will make me a blade and send it to me. Appreciate it, Chris
PS - Merry Christmas
