Default Blades for carbatec 17" bandsaw

I've got a carbatec 17" bandsaw, the sbw-4300CIW. I'm after some new blades for it - a resawing blade and a finer blades for curves.

I bought the saw secondhand and didn't get a manual for it, so I'm trying to divine the late length. I keep getting references to the sbw-4300CE, not the CIW. does anyone know if there is a difference between these, particularly in terms of blades length, etc? What worries me a bit is that machinery warehouse has manuals for the CE that suggest a blade of 3353mm, while the OAV website (the Taiwanese company that makes these saws) suggests 3340mm. Carbatec suggests 3335mm for the 4300CE.

is the difference insignificant and able to be managed through the blade tension?

Finally, can anyone offer advice on what kind of blades would be best for resawing? Bimetal, tct, etc?

    Thanks

Manufacturer's data is unreliable at best...

First time I bought replacement blades from Henry Bros, they advised rolling the blade out along the floor to measure exact length. Make a texta mark on blade and floor, roll it out, and mark where your texta mark on the blade comes around again. Measure distance between marks on the floor.

In my case (not a Carbatec saw), the actual length of the original blade as delivered was 40mm out from the quoted length in the manual.

I use the popular 1/2" 3 tpi bimetal blade from Henry Bros for resawing (as do several other forumites), but if my saw would take a wider blade I'd use it. The absolute Rolls Royce for resawing are the tungsten tipped blades, which last a very long time but are hideously expensive (also available from Henry Bros).

Just noticed you are in Canberra - not sure what blade specialists you have there.

Henry Bros are in Sydney, but will mail blades anywhere made to your required length. I suggest giving then a call anyway to get some expert advise on the best resaw blade to suit your size bandsaw; they are very helpful and knowledgeable chaps. If it is a common bandsaw they usually know the correct blade length anyway.

No affiliation at all - just a very happy customer.

Thanks. I broke a blade recently, so I will stretch it out to get an accurate measurement. And I'll give Henry bros a call. I'm heading up to the woodshow this weekend so I will check to see if they are on the way.

    Thanks
