Default Blades for a Jet 18"

    G'day crowd,

I'm spying a second hand 18" jet (about 6 to 8 years old) to replace my BAS350 12" saw.

The BAS is a good unit but ive found myself needing a bit more Resaw capacity (plus 3 mates here all have awesome kickass saws and I'm feeling left out).

Does anyone know where 137" blades for the Jet 18" can be obtained from? I tried Carbatec (no response), Gary Pye (none listed) and H+F (none).

I was hoping to obtain an assortment of 1" Resaw blade plus a 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4 with some choices of skip and/or others.

It's a bit weird not being able to find blades advertised for such a popular machine!

You should be able to get whatever you want from a local saw doctor. Tell them your length, blade width, and prefered tooth configuration and they can make them up for you, often on a next day basis, or if you are in sweet with them, on the spot.
My local got around $15K of business through me over six years when I was metalworking, and I have refered a dozen or more hobbyists to him since. He will generally splice up a blade or two for me on the spot, it actually takes about 2 minutes to select the right stock pack, measure out the required length, cut, scarf, weld and dress the weld for blades to 20mm, might be a couple of minutes longer for wider ones. I wouldn't expect that kind of service if I was a casual off the street customer (doen't really expect it now either) but 24hrs is a reasonable time frame. Running a Triton 12in, similar size to your BAS 350, my blades come to around $12 using prime quality German and American stock.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

I can vouch for the service from Henry bros. I rang them up, gave them the blade length, told them what I wanted to do with the blade and they shipped them that day. Arrived first thing the next morning. Amazing.

Haven't used the blades enough to comment on blade quality though.

The older Jet and the newer models have a different length blades. Don't ask me how I know this.

Ditto for Henry Bros. Bought a 1" 1.25 tpi bi-metal blade for my 18" jet.
around the $100-$110 mark well worth it and quick delivery.

You will have to measure a current blade for them to copy are I believe there are actually 2 different Jet 18" (sounds weird I know).

    Cheers

    Steve

From memory it was $110 for two bimetal blades - one resaw and one general purpose. Plus about $15 for shipping.
