    Default Blatant Gloat

The new Hammer N4400 bandsaw was delivered today, and is now installed in the shed

The mitre fence plus extension tables and associated legs will be delivered after the WWW show as Felder asked to 'borrow' them for demo purposes.

I haven't done any serious cutting with it yet, but the machine just purrs along, and ripped through a stick of Jarrah like Latham through a journo  .

Some serious resawing will soon be happening at the Bassoon's Buffoonery Emporium

I really like the way that the table and the upper guide post are rack & pinion operated, and the very easily adjustable upper & lower guides.

I'm afraid that the toy fund is looking a bit sad though after this and a couple of other recent acquisitions...

If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Yep Notice also the obligatory single shed chair for sitting, staring and otherwise conforming with the Code. What you can't see is the chilled Cascade sitting on the bench next to the chair

    Good score.

I'm sure you've turned more than a few here green with envy.

Might have to get one myself.

BTW for re-sawing I used a variant of previous techniques discussed on the Bulletin Board.

I glue the piece to be re-sawn onto a wide MDF base with a straight side parallel to where I want to cut. It works better than using nails and screws (no sparks). For small logs I just flatten one side of the log with and electron burning plane and glue that to the MDF.

For planks it means I can cut veneers throughout the whole plank because the last remaining bit is still glued onto the MDF.

The MDF is sacrificed but so what.

I reckon with the Hammer this technique would be perfect.

that looks like the unit we buggered last week - Wongo pushed a whole buncha nails thru it and Craigb screwed the thrust bearing to max tension in order to "test its failure point". COmplete bastards those two are... I reckon send it to me so you dont have to suffer a "soiled" machine...

    Oh I hate you blokes!!
I bought this monster for $100 in July...and it cut its first bit of wood today.
Total expenditure so far $280 including bearing set from Timbecon.
I'll close my eyes and pretend its all shiny.
    Regards,
    Noel
