Thread: What brand is this saw

Generic Taiwanese likely it would have been available under several brands, unlikely there will many parts around, it is a three wheel type which few and far between these days, will be a case of adapting current parts or fabricating same,
tyres would be fairly easy to obtain.

There is one on gumtree listed as 'JBS', made in Taiwan.

Thanks China and nigelr for responding so quickly, are new tyres available in Australia for this saw or will I need to buy them from overseas, I had a quick Google search last night but only found tyres from a supplier in Oz for larger wheels used on 2 wheel saws, I need to find a new drive O ring too.

One thing that confused me was the details on measuring the tyre size, supposedly you measure the diameter of the wheels and subtract 2", is that correct, why subtract the 2", the wheels on this saw are only small, less than 7".

Can't help with the tyres but the drive belt should be just a matter of taking it along to an engineering supplies outlet and asking them to match it as best they can. I advise you to take the belt with you because when I replaced the belts on my two-wheeler, I just gave them the belt number, A30, and figured that all A30's would be the same size.....wrong! The replacements ended up being 2-3cms longer and I was very fortunate that I had just enough adjustment to make them fit properly.

Thanks nigelr, the only problem is the drive O ring is in about 10 pieces! I guess I'll need to get a piece of O ring material the right diameter from a hydraulic or bearing shop, and glue the ends to create the correct length?

I just ordered new tyres and a drive belt from the USA, the Ebay seller said he knew the saw and said they were sold under about 15 different names back in the day.

I had one many years ago, somewhat underpowered but it cut wood and that was all I wanted at the time. The wheels are small in diameter so you are limited in the sizes of blade you can use. My somewhat unreliable memory comes up with about 10mm or 3/8". the good thing about 3-wheel bandsaws is that they have a larger work table than conventional 2-wheel saws. The name "Paulcall / Paulcaul" comes to mind but that's probably wrong, it was quite a while ago.

No Paulcall were an Australian made machine, and with due respect a higher quality.

You are probably right China, it was probably 25-odd years ago when I bought it from Spear & Jacksons in Wauchope.
