Default Need to buy a bandsaw!

Looking at getting a decent bandsaw next week. There are a couple at carbatec melb that look ok.
    Either this 2 speed job

    or
    The heavy duty 14"

I make guitars to give a clue as what I would use it for.
It would need to be able to accurately slab 8x2" dry hardwood such as rock maple etc and be able to cut reasonable mitre / crosscuts on short lengths up to a metre.

Would be grateful for any input

dunno what's more fun, buyin' the tools or usin' em'

Slab 8x2 in what way... 8x1? If so those BSaws are too small, they have a max cut of 200mm and not really enough Hp to do the job without straining the motor heaps, an 8" cut is hard work...

I'd recommend one of the 'CE' Carbatec bandsaws in the 17" range - the main reason I don't have one is I couldn't get it into my garage/workshop - entry door too low to go in upright & concrete ceiling too low to allow me to stand it up if it came in on its side

I got a Delta 14" and put a frame extension in, along with a new spring - one of the 'CE' saws wold have been a LOT easier and no more expensive in the long run,
