Capacitor
Hi All,
My Bandsaw is still down thanks to those people whom i purchased it off (carb something) ).
I need a capacitor i am told and i can not find one that has the 2 wires already attached. It is a 25 with +-5% capacitor.
Can anyone help me out i am in Camden and i need to get one ASAP as my bandsaw as not been working for 4 weeks and i am getting annoyed. I keep etting the run around from the people i will no longer buy stuff from. So any one in Sydney know where i can get a capacitor then let me know.
Thanks
Roger

Suggest you go to a motor rewinder.
BTW sorry to hear that your bandsaw is incapacitated

try www.jaycar.com.au or www.dse.com.au
Good luckIf I do not clearly express what I mean, it is either for the reason that having no conversational powers, I cannot express what I mean, or that having no meaning, I do not mean what I fail to express. Which, to the best of my belief, is not the case.

Baby,
Saying the capacitor has 2 leads attached is like saying a car has wheels. Note some people call them condensors... yours is probably 25micro farads with a +/- rating of 5 %
you need to know :
1)how many Farads (generally Micro or Pico-farads) your capacitor needs to be
2) whether is polarity sensitive
3) voltage rating
4) amps rating
dont sweat it as all this is clearly labelled on the side of the (most) capacitos(s)
if your installing yourself for F's sake if its polarity sensitive make sure you dont put it in back to front or it will blow up (note inside a capacitor are carcigens - yukko)
As someone said, jaycar, Dick smiths etc all sell them but if its to start a bandsaw it might be a biggun they need to order - take the schematic of the bandsaw cct or the old one to the nerd in the shop and geekpboy will get you the one you need. cost ? F knows.
if you dont know ask a sparkie to hook it up.
cheersZed

Pity you aren't a little closer to Mt Isa, I just looked on the shelf in my office and there it was!

Roger,
Assuming it's a motor start capacitor...
Try a motor rewinder - or try Farnell (www.farnellinone.com.au).
If you go to the Farnell web site:
select "Electrical & Electronic" in the online catalogue,
then "Capacitors", then "Polypropylene", then select "capacitance =25uF" in the selection table and click "apply".
The result should be four capacitors that are electrically suitable. Just choose the one that physically fits the space and the wallet!
