Default Carbatec 14" single speed bandsaw. Good Buy?

Gday people, i've been planning to buy a bandsaw for a while now, and I've got my eyes on the Carbatec 14" single speed one http://www.carbatec.com.au/store/ind...eefc98b1250247. And I was just wondering if it'll be worth the money to get the model up(BAS-350) because even the single speed model is stretching my budget http://www.carbatec.com.au/store/ind...80_320_540_560.

Any other recommendations under the $600 range would be appreciated.

    cheers

    Hi macaroni

I have the BAS350, it is a very good bandsaw for the price and it includes a fence, which your model doesn't, so you need to take that into account.

As I have no experience with the model you are asking about it is difficult for me to comment, but can certainly recommend the BAS350.

I have one of the smaller ones in the link (different badge & colour but same machine) and it works fine but I have been thinking of upgrading for a while as its pretty easy to reach the limitations of the smaller machine. In the links you gave, the BAS-350 is on special and only $40 more than the other. Personally I would be trying to find the extra $$$ and go the good one. You would spend $40 getting a fence for the cheaper saw.

It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.
