    Default Carbatec 8” bandsaw

    Hey everyone,
Ive seen that Carbatec are about to release a new 8 table saw

Carbatec 8" Benchtop Model Bandsaw | Carbatec

Im looking at buying a bench top saw for my small shop and wondered if anyone has seen this or has opinions?

alternatively Im looking at the Metabo BAS261 Sydney Tools

this will be my first bands saw and Ill be using it mostly for toy making and some light resawing for small boxes.

    thanks..

Hope this is not too late. Of the 2 you linked I would go the Metabo as its a lot heavier so will have a more rigid frame. That will give you more chance of being able to tension a blade for resawing.
That said I think you will soon reach the limits of of either of those 2 small saws and it may be an idea to save up a bit longer and get something with a bit more power.
    Regards
    John

    Thanks John,
are things like the different bearing types a consideration?
the Carbatec has Euro style discs as opposed to the bearings on the Metabo.
I’ve heard that discs are better but not really sure.
I’ve had someone say the Carbatec is better because of this because of adjustability. Dose that make sense?
in terms of power, I just want to get something so I can get started and work out if I need more when I really know how I’m going to use it.
also don’t have a lot of space to the smaller size of these appeals.

Maybe something like this would be better, although space could be an issue.
