New carbatec heavy duty or laguna suv bandsaw?
In the market for a 14" bandsaw upgrade and want to get one that will do me for many years to come. Narrowed it down to the new carbatec high capacity 3hp or the laguna suv. Both around the same price $2600.
Struggling to find many reviews on the carbatec as they've only been out for about a year.
Any help with the decision would be greatly appreciated!!

At the recent bandsaw hackers course I did at Artisans on the Hill, owner Peter muttered that if he was buying now he’d be looking at the Laguna. (From memory one of the bandsaws we were using was a Carbatec).
I’ve been doing similar ‘which one should I get’ and had almost settled on a Laguna

New carbatec heavy duty or laguna suv bandsaw?
On the off chance either of you are interested, there’s a Laguna 14 SUV on gumtree at the moment.
Funny thing, I’ve been keeping an eye out for bandsaws (larger for me) lately, and when I saw this one, recalled this thread, but for the life of me couldn’t find it again to give the heads up, and assumed I’d read it on another forum. Now browsing, I found it again. So here’s the heads up.
Edit: here’s the link. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mull...rce=ios_social

Thanks lanceC I'll take a look.
I'm probably leaning towards the laguna but then I read to run a 3mm blade on it you have to change the guides (extra costs). Where as the carbatec can run a 3-19mm blade as is
I am hoping someone has the new carbatec and can give me their thoughts on it

I have a laguna 14-12 and I actually had a look at the new carbatec saws today (thinking about adding a bigger saw so I can set the 14-12 up as basically a giant scroll saw).
My opinion from checking out the 21" unit for maybe five minutes - the carbatec saws seem like they are more 'built to a price' than the laguna - things like the grips for screws to adjust the guides are cheap and I think I would find them even more fiddly than other bandsaw guide adjustment.
Having said that - the big ones I am looking at do seem to be impressive value for money, and I didn't find anything that would actually stop it doing a good job once set up for a cut, just minor annoyances.
I do like the ceramic guides on my laguna, but my experience with traditional guides is very limited, so my opinion isn't necessarily worth much!
Cheers,
Danny
