Carbatec v machineryhouse
Hi guys,
What would you choose between these two?
http://www.machineryhouse.com.au/W4334
Carba-Tec 17" CE Bandsaw : CARBA-TEC
I really am stuck with the Scottish in me leaning towards price and the tradesman looking at depth of cut. Anyone have any experiance with either or both?
Thanks

Biggest difference, apart from the price, is in the motors. H&F 3hp vs Carbatec 2hp, but bear in mind thse are Chinese horses!.
Depth of cut only varies by 20mm, so not huge.
If the H&F is still the same as the last time I looked it has non-standard width mitre slot, ie smaller than the standard 19mm which makes it harder to use after market mitre gauges.
However, the H&F has 2 mitre slots vs the CT only one.
I have the CT saw and am very happy with it, but in the end price is also important, but the difference in warranty 2 vs 5 years also comes in to that equation.
(BTW fixed your link to H&F as it wasn't working)

Machineryhouse don't seem to have a local branch so when i clicked delivery estimate it said "1945.00". I was pretty sure they had a branch in Auckland like Carbatec who charge about 100.00 to Wellington.
So i think this is the same machine from a local store
The Woodworkers Paradise:: Somac 18 Inch Bandsaw even though you get a couple of freebies with it, it seems a bit too expensive, or the machineryhouse one is a really good deal.

if the scotsman can put up with the price, if you upgrade to the carbatec 21" saw with the 3hp motor and the increased depth of cut, the tradesman will appreciate it.
