carbatec vs hafco 14" bandsaws
Has anyone had any experience with the cheaper end of the market in bandsaws?
thinking of either hafco bp-250 $299 or the carbatec bas-250 $329
carbatec has 25mm more depth ...are they a much of a muchness ?
also i may go up to the next 14" from these companies
hafco bp-14a $419 as opposed to carbatecs sw-1401 @ $529 but doesn't come with a fence...not that the hafco fence looks great.
thanks for any help
i don't know what other brands would be similar quality as these companies?

Sorry Grant. Didn't see the original post in October.
Rick, I ended up getting the 14a from H&F at the WWW show. While I don't place huge demands on it, I have cut veneers without blade drift, and of course plenty of rounds for the lathe. I use the supplied blade for the veneers and while that is okay, I will probably get a better blade soon. No complaints from me, but make sure the dusty is attached each time you use it because the lower wheel cavity soon gets dirty and it can cause a little drift as it packs onto the lower wheel.
Depends what you're using it for I guess. If you are going to bandsaw boxes as your main thing, maybe something a bit better, but if it's a general workhorse like mine, for light and medium odd jobs, the 14a is fine until I find out differently.
