    Default Ceramic guides and bearings for Jet Bandsaws

    Hi everyone,

    I've seen a few people use and recommend ceramic guides for their bandsaws but I wonder if anyone here has experience in these upgrades and can offer advice on if they are worth the change. Also I've no idea where to get them anyhow, most of the web searches seem to point to US sources. Are they even available in Australia?

    I'm using a Jet JWBS14Q saw if that matters.

    Hi Wok,

    Yes, you can get ceramic guides for quite a number of bandsaws, and most people who have them love them because they are easier to adjust and they take a lot of punishment. Mine has them and they seem to do pretty well at keeping everything in line and on track. I'm yet to try my saw with a really small blade - which would be a test of the guides ability to keep everything true.

    Whether or not they are available from the manufacturer for your bandsaw - well, probably best to contact the supplier, which for Jet I believe now means going through Carbatec. Alternatively, you may be able to find a different brand that comes/came from the same factory as yours that does offer the option.
