cheap source of tyres ?
Hi all,
I have a 3 wheel bandsaw that's been sitting idle for years. The old 6" tyres are shot but I've never been able to find what I consider a cheap source of replacements.
Anyone ?I'm just a startled bunny in the headlights of life. L.J. Young.

3 wheelers are not common, therefore parts, if available are not common. A decent set of urethane tires should outlive the remaining useful life of the machine and give you many hours of cutting.
Alternatively, there is nothing wrong with making your own tires using leather or transmission belting glued to the wheel. This was the practice in the early years of bandsaws.

How would a band cut from an inner tube go?

I think it is doable, but would need an over coat of quality duck tape or similar. The tire that came with my Taiwanese 14” was little more than that.
You could build up the crown using thinner cross sections.
It depends on use.
The first tire will be exposed to the most heat and dust coming off the cut.

I thought about an inner tube but ones with a 6" diameter are not especially cheap. The machine is a small old bandsaw so choosing between spending $60on urethane tyres and buying another machine I'd probably just buy another bandsaw.
I might look into the cost of leather or transmission belting.
