What's a BAS-350?

PS. Opps, they have a CS, not the DX. Wonder what the differance is?

BAS-350 by Carbatec is in my opinion the best 14" bandsaw for a woodturner. In short it has 200 mm depth of cut and 1.5 hp motor. See my post under : I want to splash out by Ernknot.

I am not wood turning. Maybe thats something I will try later although it is a different field. I suppose it pays to cover all fields just in case.

I have neither the BAS-350 (although I checked it out when shopping) nor the JET bandsaw. What I do have is the experience of buying a second-hand castiron frame bandsaw and "fettling" it so it worked OK. I paid $380 (NZ) for the bandsaw (Tanner=local kiwi made) and so far have spent $150+ and about 40 hours to get it running relatively OK - still can't get the last bit of vibration out and its now tracking OK and cutting straight.
What did I learn - buy the best 1st time up so go buy a Jet to get no vibration, good tracking, straight cutting and no annoying niggles right out of the box.
The BAS 350 is lots of power and capacity but if you read through the threads here you will find people had to do a reasonable amount of tuning (=fettling) to get it running OK. If you are happy doing that, then that's the way to go.
I now have to figure out how to explain to my wife that I need to buy a Jet bandsaw to replace the existing one.

There are two machines marketed as BAS 350...one by Carbatec which runs 100% out the box and another look alike by others which is a poor copy of the Carbatec machine.

you can get the 14DX from Woodworking Warehouse in Melbourne. ( see http://www.woodwarehouse.com.au/ ). Talk to Wanita or Max and they will look after you. BTW, I am in Sandy Bay and if you are in the area and would like to see the 14DX before you buy, send me a PM.

I have sent an e-mail to Woodworking Warehouse with a list of wants including the 14DX. Thanks for invite. I may take you up on that when I get back to Tas.
