Cleaning up a bandsaw blade
Dear all,
I've just changed my bandsaw blade and decided to rip an old redgum fence post. The blade worked okay at first but since then it seems to be really struggling to cut. I've noticed that the blade is dirty and still has redgum deposits on it. Is it worthwhile cleaning the blade and if so, how?
I have noticed that my blades really struggle after I try and cut redgum, do you guys take any precautions when trying to cut redgum?

Sounds like your blade is too fine and/or the redgum still might be sappy
You need a coarse blade at least 2 or 3 tpi skiptooth
you could try lubricating the blade while you're cutting.
if water doesnt work try some diesel.

You should be able to clean the blade with oven-cleaner sprayed onto a cloth. Use gloves, though; it is a bit caustic on the skin.
